Choose Java when

You use Java Edition on a desktop, can create Forge or NeoForge instances, want access to Java project configuration, and can manage provider credentials locally. Choose the project before choosing the Minecraft version.

03

Choose Bedrock when

You use a phone, tablet, console, or Minecraft for Windows Bedrock and the selected add-on supports the current game build. Expect world-pack settings and project-specific connection steps instead of a Java loader.

04

Windows is ambiguous

Windows supports both editions. Check the launcher and title screen. A JAR cannot be imported into Bedrock, and an MCADDON cannot be placed in a Java mods folder.

05

Feature claims do not transfer

Voice options, memory, transformation behavior, commands, multiplayer, and AI providers differ by adaptation. Read the selected project's current description instead of assuming a feature shown in the films or another project exists.
